The public are also welcome to join-in the carnival fun from 3 pm. to 6pm.

The public can obtain free tickets at the venue on the day of the event. Activities at the carnival include game booths, handicraft workshops, and mega-recreational facilities. This year, Construction Safety Week will be held from 21 to 26 September with the theme “Workers’ Behaviour”. This theme promotes the creation of a “zero accident” environment through drawing construction workers’ attention to manage their own and each other’s safety behaviour at work.

Activities at the Construction Safety Week Carnival

Game booths

There is a variety of game booths for participants to discover more about construction safety, including electricity safety, working at height, work in confined spaces, and personal protection equipment. Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge on the construction industry and the importance of construction safety.

Handicraft workshops

Bamboo strips are essential in fixing and strengthening a bamboo shed. CIC professional instructors will teach participants how to make bamboo strip bracelets. Also, instructors will demonstrate how to use the mortise and tenon joints of wood to make burr puzzles, so as to let participants learn more about the construction industry.

Mega-recreationalfacilities –

Inflatable Climbing Wall

Children can climb an inflatable climbing wall while wearing personal safety equipment to experience how the construction workers work at height.

Other mega-recreational facilities include:

SmartBuilder

There is a customized conveyor belt modelled after a construction site environment. Children can place bricks on the conveyor belt and spin the wheel to deliver the bricks.

Little Driver

Children can drive a customized excavator and use the lever to shovel plastic balls into baskets.

Construction Safety Week aims to promote zero accidents as well as a caring environment for those who work in the construction industry. Launched in 2012, the campaign has received tremendous support from the industry, including professional institutions, organizations, trade associations, and labour unions.
