More on the winners

Building Works Category - Gold Award
Name of Contractor: Leighton - Chun Wo Joint Venture
Project/ Contract Title: Hong Kong - Zhuhai - Macao Bridge, Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities: Passenger Clearance Building

“The Hong Kong - Zhuhai - Macao Bridge, Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities: Passenger Clearance Building” project was managed by Leighton - Chun Wo Joint Venture and supported by the Highways Department. Due to the height restrictions of the construction site, the contractor applied innovative prefabricated technology by assembling pre-made components elsewhere and transporting them to Hong Kong for installation. For example, the building’s roof modules were pre-made in mainland China and delivered to Hong Kong. The modules were then pushed into position by four sets of self-propelled modular transporters and horizontal hydraulic jacks to the top of the Passenger Clearance Building.

Building Works Category - Silver Award

Name of Contractor: CR Construction Co. Ltd.
Project/ Contract Title: Proposed Office Development at No. 1 Hennessy Road, Hong Kong

“The Proposed Office Development at No. 1 Hennessy Road, Hong Kong” project is a 150 meter high single commercial building with a unique built form and an inverted pyramid structure located in the middle of the building. As the construction capacity was limited by its architectural form, CR Construction Co. Ltd. concentrated on pre-design and planning. The construction of the temporary work was complex, as workers had to coordinate with each other in a confined environment and strictly follow construction management regulations.

Civil Engineering Works - Gold Award

Name of Contractor: Dragages - Bouygues Joint Venture
Project/ Contract Title: Shatin to Central Link Contract 1128 - South Ventilation Building to Admiralty Tunnels

This project supports the development of MTR Corporation Limited’s Shatin to Central Link and connects the Eastern and Western Harbour Tunnels with a tunnel from the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter’s South Ventilation Building to Admiralty. The contractors constructed a series of temporary works before the official start of the project, which included the excavation of a 40 meter production shaft well, to ensure the smooth completion of the construction works.

Civil Engineering Works - Silver Award

Name of Contractor: CRBC - Kaden Joint Venture
Project/ Contract Title: Tuen Mun - Chek Lap Kok Link - Northern Connection Toll Plaza and Associated Works

This project involved constructing a toll plaza on a major road connecting the Tuen Mun Pier and landfill site. The contractor found that traditional bridge building methods were not suitable and instead they used prefabricated stone components to construct the bridging beam and further continue the installation process of the bridge deck.
